my telephone number is actually within the coverage area?
A: The Middlesex County Rural Connections availability lookup database only contains
connectivity that will newly become available as part of the Inukshuk project in Middlesex County.
For pre-existing Bell high speed internet availability within the County, please
visit Bell at: Link
Q: How much will this high speed service cost?
A: The pricing and details of this service can be found at Bell’s website: Link
Q: What is the difference between the WiMax technology being used in the Rural Connects rollout and the Internet “sticks” being advertised currently.
A: While at first glance both offerings may appear very much the same, there are some very important differences between the two technologies. For a full explanation please refer to the Technology Page for more complete explanations of each technology.
Q: What do the different types of coverage on the coverage map mean?
- Indoor
- Outdoor
- Above the treeline
A: As shown in the Coverage Map on this site there are three possibilities of coverage that can be available with the Middlesex Rural Connects Wireless solution. They are as follows;
-
Indoor - When a customer’s location is sufficiently close to a tower, the customer will only require an indoor modem/antenna, that can be placed beside the computer using the connection.
-
Outdoor – When a customer’s location from a tower, is far enough away, or affected by obstacles either natural(trees or terrain) or manmade (buildings), that the signal received is either not strong enough to use an indoor modem. In this case an outdoor antenna/modem, mounted to the outside of the house or building, is required to provide the necessary signal strength to provide good service from the nearest tower.
-
Above the Treeline - When a customer’s location from a tower, is far enough away, or affected by obstacles either natural(trees or terrain), manmade (buildings) or a combination of both, that the signal received is either not strong enough to use either an indoor modem or an outdoor mounted on the side of the house or building. In this case an outdoor antenna/modem is required to provide the necessary signal strength to provide good service from the nearest tower. The antenna/modem has to be mounted at a height far enough above the ground to get a strong signal from the nearest tower.
